Description

This well strikingly attractive lodge–style home has many features of the craftsman bungalow style, but is larger and provides more amenities for those looking for more living space. Even at 4,506 square feet, the spaces still feel very intimate, and the covered porches at the rear are broken up into three separate spaces. The home has a low profile, with dormers that open up the second floor space, and a semi–attached garage features an upper theater room.

The front covered porch is generous in size, and is framed with multiple wooden posts that support the vaulted roof. The entry opens to the great room straight ahead, and has views through it to the rear covered porch. This foyer is large enough to accommodate entry tables/furniture, and it includes stairs to the upper and lower levels. A small hall to the right leads passed a coat closet to both a study and a family room. The study has windows looking out to the front, and a glazed door that opens onto a private covered porch. The family/T.V. room accesses a full bath with a private tub and toilet, and a covered porch at the rear of the house through a pair of glazed doors flanked by windows, bringing in tons of natural light and views. A long bay is also lined with windows and would be ideal for a window seat.

To the left of the entry, an opening leads to a very large and open gourmet kitchen. A dining nook is located in one corner, with windows on two walls for additional natural light and views. The kitchen is open to a formal dining room space with a wall of windows that look out to the side, glazed doors flanked by windows that walk out to a separate covered porch at the rear, and a large opening to the great room. The great room features a large central fireplace with a raised hearth, and a rear wall that opens up with bifold doors with glazing, so that you can open up the space to the covered porch. The great room also conveniently accesses the other two covered porches.

Both the great room and dining room are at the same level, which is a couple of steps down from the main floor. This may be due to the original site, and it also delineates these spaces from the other rooms. This may be easily modified though, and built without the steps.

A mudroom off the kitchen accesses another small covered porch, a walk–in pantry, and a powder room, and has room for built–ins such as a bench and lockers. Steps lead down to a small vestibule with a coat closet that accesses the garage, a storage/freezer room, and a patio leading to the front yard. The three–car garage has stairs to a second level, which was originally designed to be a future theater room with abundant storage spaces. It would make an ideal in–law unit or office. You may also build the garage as a detached building, if this fits better on your property.

The second floor hall provides access to the master suite, three additional bedrooms, an office, and a centrally located laundry room. The master bedroom features a vaulted ceiling with an exposed ridge beam, a propane fireplace, and glazed doors that walk out to a large private balcony. The luxurious master bath has a large soaking tub located below windows, a separate 5' x 5' shower, two sinks, and a private toilet room. The walk–in closet is "L" shaped, providing two different spaces for a couple. The two bedrooms to the right of the stairwell share a full bath, and each has a walk–in closet and a nook with windows for a desk. The bedroom to the left has its own private full bath, and a small nook for linens.

Foundation Info
This house was originally designed to have a crawlspace foundation. However, if you prefer a basement or slab foundation, these are fairly simple and inexpensive changes that your builder can often make for you.
